Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026 · Last updated: July 16, 2026
The BrightBrick Project ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we handle when you visit this website or interact with us, and the choices you have. The short version: this website does not use cookies, does not run analytics or advertising, and does not collect personal information on its own.
Who we are
The BrightBrick Project is a youth-led nonprofit based in Helena, Alabama that provides LEGO® sets and handwritten letters of encouragement to children in foster care. You can reach us through the contact options listed in the footer of this site.
Information we collect
This website is a static informational site. It has no user accounts, no comment forms, and no tracking scripts. The limited information we may handle comes from:
- Messages you send us. If you contact us on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or by email, we receive whatever you choose to share (such as your name and message). We use it only to respond to you.
- Donations. Monetary donations are processed entirely by PayPal on PayPal's own secure website. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal may share a confirmation with us (such as your name, email address, and donation amount) so we can acknowledge your gift. PayPal's handling of your data is governed by PayPal's Privacy Statement.
- Wish-list gifts. If you purchase LEGO® sets from our Amazon wish list, the purchase happens entirely on Amazon's website and is governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice. Amazon may share your name and a gift note with us so we can thank you; we never see your payment details.
- Volunteer sign-ups. If you sign up to write letters of encouragement, the form is hosted by Google Forms. The information you enter (such as your name and email address) is used only to coordinate volunteering and is covered by Google's Privacy Policy while on Google's service.
- Hosting logs. Like nearly every website, the company that hosts this site may automatically log basic technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not combine this with any other data.
Cookies and local storage
This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising, or social media tracking pixels. If we ever add features that use cookies, we will update this policy and show a clear notice first.
How we use information
- To respond to your messages and questions
- To process and acknowledge donations
- To coordinate volunteers and events
- To meet legal and tax record-keeping obligations for donations
We never sell, rent, trade, or share our donor or volunteer lists with anyone. Your personal information is disclosed only to the service providers named above (PayPal, Google) as needed to process your donation or sign-up, or where the law requires it.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults — donors, volunteers, and community partners — and for teens 13 and older acting with a parent or guardian's permission, who may sign up to volunteer or apply to our Teen Impact Board. We collect only the information needed to coordinate their participation, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. Information about the children we serve is handled offline with their caregivers and placement agencies, and we never publish a child's name, photo, or identifying details without proper consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we hold very little, this is usually simple — just contact us using the options in the footer and we will help. You can also unfollow or block our social accounts at any time, and PayPal and Google provide their own privacy controls for information you shared with them.
How long we keep information
We keep donation records as long as tax and nonprofit regulations require. Messages and volunteer sign-ups are kept only as long as needed to coordinate with you, then deleted.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS (encrypted) by our hosting provider. Donations and form submissions happen on PayPal's and Google's encrypted services. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we keep the amount of personal data we handle to a minimum by design.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
